Jeanna Lurie
President

Jeanna has been an active member of the birth community since her own pregnancy in 2000. In addition to her work as President of BABI, she currently supports families in their childbearing years and beyond as a certified yoga instructor, doula, and childbirth educator. She has served the community as an accredited La Leche League Leader and has received training from the famous Farm Midwifery Center in Tennessee.
Jeanna brings to BABI a background in non-profits that support the empowerment of women, specifically facilitating a project to bring media literacy into Bay Area high schools though the San Francisco National Organization for Women. Jeanna hopes her work with BABI will help local families feel empowered through their own journey into parenthood.

Jeanne Batacan
Vice President

Jeanne is a Childbirth, Lactation and Happiest Baby Educator as well as a Birth and Postpartum Doula. She was a founding member of BABI and for the first two years, she served as Secretary of the Board. She has chaired and participated in numerous events, committees, and activities.
For over twenty years Jeanne has hoped to see a resource for expectant and young families in the South Bay Area and now that dream is starting to be realized as BABI begins to grow. More and more families are learning about BABI and our mission.

Shann Eide
Secretary

Shann serves as the Secretary of the board, as well as the chair of the Membership committee. She is also the Website chair. Additionally, she is a birth doula and working on her childbirth educator certification.
Shann first discovered BABI when she was pregnant in 2005. She got to experience firsthand how important BABI's work is. The resource guide, MTDN, and Meet BABI put her in touch with great resources and opened her eyes to what a great organization BABI is. BABI has accomplished many great things. Shann looks forward to working with BABI over the coming years to accomplish many more great things!

Bridget Owen
Treasurer

Bridget is a Master Herbalist, Certified F.E. Practitioner, Lactation Consultant, Mother, Wife, and world traveler and is the owner of Sweet Herb Medicinals.

Bridget has had a wonderful opportunity to partake in the many activities sponsored or presented by BABI. Her involvement with the
organization has been so fulfilling, working to bring education and resources to those so in need of responsible birth choices. Helping to create community among birthing families provides an empowering space to nurture families and brings a healthy mindset to the playing field of birth.

Marilyn Moss, D.C.
Co-Public Liaison

Marilyn feels her role as Co-Public Liaison for BABI is a natural extension of what she has already established in her clinical practice, and something she truly enjoys!

Marilyn is a doctor of chiropractic, in practice for eight years in downtown Los Gatos. Her areas of expertise include pre-natal and post partum care, infant care, cranial work, clinical nutrition
and natural hormone balancing. She also works extensively with breech positioned babies.

She joined BABI two years ago because the organization represents her own approach to working with and educating pregnant couples. Marilyn finds we are so fortunate in the South Bay to have such an extensive network of birthing practitioners who work cooperatively for our patients and clients.

Allison Riche
Co-Public Liaison

Allison is Co-Public Liaison and the chair of the Events committee. She is responsible for making many great BABI events happen including MTDN, Meet BABI and BABI Connections.

Allison is a birth doula. She is also a mother to a beautiful 2 year old little girl, and the office manager for a chiropractic kinesiologist in San Jose.
Through the Public Liaison position, Allison hopes to continue to get BABI’s name out there and get more women involved and educated about pregnancy and childbirth.

Kate Fox, D.C.
Board Member

Kate has served on the BABI board for multiple terms and is currently the Chair of the Education Committee (that schedules and plans the BABI Circle meetings).

Kate is a family chiropractor. She opened her practice in Los Gatos in September of 2004 and went to the October SBBC meeting and fell in love with the group and the mission of BABI. She was (and still is)
very excited to find a group with such passion as well as great resources for educators, healers and the community. Kate would like to see BABI have the ability to reach out to more women and their families while maintaining its core values and mission. In addition to educating the community she would like to see BABI continue to educate and support its' members.

Michelle Germain
Board Member

Michelle has been a member of SBBC and BABI since they started, supporting it in various ways, most recently as a board member. She thinks it is important for the community to be aware of the resources they have available to them.

Michelle has been working in the birth field since the early 1990's as a Birth Doula, Childbirth Educator, and Midwife assistant. She is currently in school to become a CNM.

Tracey Silar
Board Member

Tracey is a certified Birth Doula, a certified Massage Therapist, and a Postpartum Doula. She is involved in the Peninsula Birth Circle, the South Bay Birth Circle, Santa Cruz Birth Network and BABI. She served as BABI secretary on the previous board and is currently a general board member.

Tracey is excited about what BABI has done to support the birthing community and bring birth professionals together. She believes it is
very important for us to educate as many people as possible and to continue to network and support those birth professionals that help work toward our mission. As a board member, she wants to continue to make this happen by organizing more events where families can learn of the options and the resources they have at their disposal, such as Meet BABI and MTDN, and by facilitating stronger connections with other birth organizations.
